Which rules cover AirAsia X
- EU261€250–€600
AirAsia X flights that leave the EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland. Its flights into the EU from elsewhere are not covered, because AirAsia X is not an EU airline.
- UK261£220–£520
AirAsia X flights that leave the UK (not its flights into the UK).
- SHY-YOLCU€250–€600
AirAsia X flights that leave Turkey.
Amounts are per passenger and depend on the flight distance.
Not owed when the cause was outside the airline’s control: bad weather, air traffic control, security, strikes by airport staff. Technical faults and the airline’s own staff usually are its responsibility.

How to claim from AirAsia X
Write to the airline with your booking reference, flight number and date and ask for compensation under Article 7 of Regulation 261/2004. If they refuse or don’t answer within about six weeks, complain to the national enforcement body of the country you flew from, or use a claim service.
Keep your booking reference, boarding pass and receipts for meals, hotels or taxis while you waited. Every passenger on the booking, children with a seat included, can claim the full amount.
The claim services we work with take EU and UK cases; on this airline’s routes here you claim from the airline directly, which is free.
